We arrived in LosAngeles around 3:00 and found a nice campsite in Van Nuys. Once we got set up and relaxed a bit, we headed down to Hollywood. What fun!! Much more fun than Las Vegas, we weren't real crazy about Vegas. We have tickets for a tour of Hollywood tomorrow of all the famous places including the homes of the stars. Really looking forward to that! California is very pretty, of course after driving through the desert today and all the barren, no tree terrain for the last week, its not hard to be appreciative of some grass and green trees. I have to say, Ive been to a lot of places in my day and have seen some pretty remarkable places, but I can honestly say there is no place as pretty as NYS! More tomorrow with pictures to follow!

Today is Memorial Day and we are in Las Vegas. We arrived last night around dinner time and set up camp and just relaxed for the evening. A true sign of getting old....who gets to Las Vegas by 5:00pm, and stays in for the night and is sleeping by 9:30?? These girls! However, this morning we got up bright and early and headed for the Vegas strip. It is HOT,HOT,HOT here! We ventured around for a few hours and we are back at the campground relaxing by the swimming pool. Here are a few pictures from downtown.

Hi All, we have had an eventful few days. We drove from Gallup New Mexico on Friday to Flagstaff Arizona. Once in Flagstaff, since it's Memorial Day weekend, we weren't able to find a campground with vacancies, so we camped in WalMart's parking lot along with many other RV's. Very fun actually, a great feeling of kinship. And we met a woman living in her RV from Rochester NY, go figure!
Yesterday we made it up to the Grand Canyon by about 9:30 in the morning. I can't even begin to explain the beauty of it all. We went along the South Rim and hiked for about 1.5 miles along the rim. SCAREY! It has been my life long dream to see the Canyon and I was not disappointed, it was much more beautiful that I ever imagined. We spent the entire day and evening looking at the Canyon in different spots. We camped in the parking lot and got up this morning to a Moose within about 2 feet of us. I have some great pictures of her and will upload them later today.
We are headed to Vegas today, not being gamblers, we will probably walk around in awe, snap pictures and enjoy the sights.

Here are some pictures from our camp at Red Rock Park, New Mexico and a few of our travel along I40 in New Mexico. We saw hardened lava!
Above picture is from our campsite! Below is the hardened lava.
Another one from our campsite, below.
New Mexico reminds us of the wild, wild west, we fully expected to see Tonto and the Lone Ranger in a shoot out!

I understand you all are having a much deserved heat wave. We are here in Gallup NM and just left our camp site at Red Rocks, to head south, or was that north, no I think it was west. We will figure it out before we leave Dennys ( they have internet and much needed coffee)
Boy the nights are cold about 34 degrees, getting up to the bathroom is an adventure. we try to get a site close to the bathrooms. We had 2 men camping next to us. long story short, these men had been camping in their cars for past 2 weeks apparently waiting for some business deal to come through. They had an unsettling interest in our travels so we decided to move on. The spot is beautiful!! pictures to follow, that is MB department.
Our living standards continue to be compromised. I have on occasion resorted to handiwipes and baseball cap in lieu of bathing and shampooing.
More Later.

Tucumcari New Mexico
We have landed for the night. We gained an hour which is helpful. The drive today was grueling. I've never seen such barren land in my life as the drive from Amarillo Texas to Tucumcari, New Mexico. It's about a 150 mile stretch of NOTHING and I mean NOTHING. There should be warning signs to get gas and food because there are no exits, no trees for shade if God forbid you should break down along the road, no towns, no houses, nothing in sight except flat barren land. It was rather frustrating.
However we did see a few fun sights. A place called Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. It's about 8 old Cadillac's buried in the dirt in a field of about 5000 acres of nothing but dirt. You can spray paint anything you want on them, I've attached a few pictures below. The other place we stopped was The Big Texan Restaurant/Gift Shop, a supposed travelers delight......hmmmm not so much!
Anyways, we are in for the night and will be off in the morning for Gallup, New Mexico. See ya there!

Hi PEEPS! The last few days we've just been traveling through Arkansas and Oklahoma. We spent the night in Ozark Arkansas Monday night and last night we stayed in Hinton Oklahoma. I've never come across people as slow and in need of direction as the people in Arkansas! Something as simple as ordering a hamburger is a challenge for many, lol. Today we are headed to Amarillo Texas, we are about an hour or so outside of it now. We're going to stop at a few places and maybe continue on or we may stay there for the night. More to follow! Thank you all for coming along with us, we enjoy your comments! Love to all, MB and Liz.

We are learning as we go how to manage life in our new found circumstances. I love spending so much time outside. and I love the adventure of never knowing what is going to happen next. MB has been so accommodating with just stopping whenever. 2 days ago in the first hour of traveling we stopped 4 times, Today we are on a run--we stopped after a full hour and a half . More later, Liz.
Here are some pictures from Opryland Convention Center, now mind you, these are ALL inside of the hotel!

Good Morning to all our peeps! Since the last post we left Nashville and spent a few nights at a wonderful small, quaint campground in Memphis. We are now on our way through Arkansas headed eventually to the Grand Canyon. While in Memphis we went to Graceland. WOW, that place is incredible. I've attached a few pictures below of Elvis's mansion. The tour was great! We also met some wonderful people at the campground. So many great people along our journey so far. And...Milly is very popular, she attracts a lot of attention!
Enjoy the pics! (oh, also while in Nashville we went to the Grand Ole Opry and the Opryland Convention Center, OMG that place is unbelievable, picture in the next blog!)

Today is Friday and we are in Nashville. When we got here it was pouring rain and the campground is a far cry from the beautiful one we just came from in the Smokies. And this one cost 4 times as much, go figure! We are basically in a parking lot off the highway, all lined up in a row. Oh well, we are only staying the night and then we are off to Memphis in the morning. We went into town and walked around for a few hours. Fun place, lots of music, bars, food and people enjoying themselves. We are settled in for the night. See ya in Memphis!

Well after 5 overnights in Milly, what I know is that one's standards are dependent upon the resources available. The sooner you adjust to that fact the happier you will be. Fortunately MB and I are very flexible and well adjusted so we are happy.
Someone said "life begins when you leave your comfort zone" I wish I knew who said that. I am not
sure I fully agree but you definitely feel alive. I never thought I would jump off a platform 30 plus feet off the ground with only the support of some cable and a bunch of strings :) Zip lining is off my bucket list!

Whew, Hi everyone, apparently I need to be quick because the internet connection in the Smoky Mountains comes and goes. We've been camping deep in the middle of the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Oh what sights to see, simply amazing! We hiked up to the highest point of the Smokies yesterday, Clingmans Dome. Quite a hike for us old folks but we did it. Of course after all that, you are so high you are in the clouds and you can't see anything. But, hey we did it!
Today.....are you ready?? We went Zip Lining! 9 different lines of varying length and speed. IT......WAS......EXILERATING!!!
Tomorrow morning we are leaving the Smokies and headed west, to where you ask.......we don't know yet. Here are a few pics from here in Gatlinburg, enjoy!

MB and I have new friends here in Virginia Beach , Donna Marie, her husband ,brother, daughter, brothers wife. We have been invited to come and stay in their yard. They were so intrigued by this tear drop they were waiting on their porch for the owner to return.
True story, we were walking back to our parking spot , reached Milly when the clan decended upon us with all kind of questions about Milly and wanted to know all the details. Honestly these were really nice people. We chatted it up for about 45 minutes, Donna Marie only has one grand child and lost one before being born. When we left the parking spot they waved from the window. As a side note , Donna Marie has a sister that just bought a tiny house (135 sq ft) she and her girl friend moved to Florida with it, God Bless America.
