We have landed for the night. We gained an hour which is helpful. The drive today was grueling. I've never seen such barren land in my life as the drive from Amarillo Texas to Tucumcari, New Mexico. It's about a 150 mile stretch of NOTHING and I mean NOTHING. There should be warning signs to get gas and food because there are no exits, no trees for shade if God forbid you should break down along the road, no towns, no houses, nothing in sight except flat barren land. It was rather frustrating.
However we did see a few fun sights. A place called Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. It's about 8 old Cadillac's buried in the dirt in a field of about 5000 acres of nothing but dirt. You can spray paint anything you want on them, I've attached a few pictures below. The other place we stopped was The Big Texan Restaurant/Gift Shop, a supposed travelers delight......hmmmm not so much!
Anyways, we are in for the night and will be off in the morning for Gallup, New Mexico. See ya there!
Who knew you would need a can of spray paint for your trip to write something fun on an old Cadillac.
