Good Morning all!  Today is Friday, we are in Cheyenne, Wyoming for a few days.  Liz's sister and brother in law from Denver are coming here to meet us and we are going to spend some time with them!
The last few days we've been traveling through Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.  Now, I've always heard about the mid-west but until you see it for yourself, it's just unimaginable.  The most desolate countryside ever. That being said, it is also the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen. It does make it tough to drive all day though, and you had better be sure you have a full tank of gas because the exits are few and far between.  We've seen herds of cows running free, elk, antelope, but no bears, darn it!
We were stopped on part of the highway in Nevada for 45 minutes while the Army detonated expired explosives! I've got some pictures of that experience!  I'm thinking it was near that top secret "Area 51" military compound.  Kind of exciting! One night we stayed right on Great Salt Lake in Salt Lake City Utah, OMG....beautiful! I've got so many stories to tell other than the great places we've seen, but the great experiences along the way with the people we've met and the little unexpected things that happen along the way, they are priceless and humbling.
For now, here are a few pictures.  Love to all......(btw, we are homesick and miss everyone and our dogs tons!)
Milly on the shoreline of Great Salt Lake in Utah. She wanted to go swimming, we had to talk her out of it because of the high salt content.

Sunrise over Great Salt Lake.

Bombs being detonated in Nevada, there were 10 that they set off.

Here is part of the desert we drove through in Nevada and Utah for hundreds of miles.

  1. I can't wait to hear all the stories. Its hard to believe that we live in such a big and diverse country isn't it. You have had an experience of a lifetime. I'll bet you have been humbled on many occasions. Again, can't wait to hear all about it. The trip across the desert looks a little scary. Keep on Keeping on. Happy Trails, Love to you both. Mickey
